At United Way of Eastern Idaho (UWEI), our Ready. Set. GO! program is dedicated to enhancing education while supporting the health and well-being of students in our community. Partnering with local elementary schools, we provide essential resources such as books, clothing, hygiene items, and weekend food to help children thrive. By prioritizing education initiatives, UWEI recognizes the importance of addressing systemic barriers to educational attainment and promoting access to learning opportunities.

Weekend Food Bags Initiative

Our Ready. Set. GO! Weekend Food Bags provide easy-to-prepare, healthy meals for local elementary students who lack access to food over the weekends. In our service area, many children come to school without the essential resources they need to thrive. They often do not have nutritious food when school meals are unavailable during the weekends, which contributes to educational disparities and makes it difficult for these children to excel academically and fully engage in their learning.

Currently, we are proud to provide 200 students with weekend food bags each week. However, the demand for this program continues to grow, and we need your support!

Clothing & Hygiene Initiative

The Ready. Set. GO! Clothing & Hygiene program promotes the belief that every elementary student deserves access to essential clothing and hygiene items. This program provides local elementary students with a sense of dignity and belonging, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: their education.

Working with local elementary counselors to identify those in need, each clothing bag contains five brand-new outfits, a pair of shoes, and essential hygiene products. During the winter months, we also provide winter gear, including coats, hats, gloves, and boots, to ensure that everyone stays warm and healthy.
